In 1928, Virginia Woolf wrote Orlando, the first novel in which the main character suddenly trans-forms from male to female in the middle of the story. Almost a century later, trans writer and activist Paul B. Preciado sends a film letter to Woolf, calling a cast of 25 different people, all trans and non-binary, from 8 years old to 70, to play the fictional character while also narrating their own lives, as a series of mid-20th century trans archives evoke the real, historical Orlandos in their struggle for recognition and visibility.
