About 2013

Lemesos International Documentary Festival returns on the big screen of Theatro Ena, in the heart of Limassol, now in its eighth edition, from the 1st until the 8th August 2013. The Festival will screen for the first time in Cyprus, 27 of the most awarded and talked about documentaries of the year and is about to bring us face to face with… reality!

With a multidimensional programme of worldwide documentaries which will be screened for the first time in Cyprus, distinguished guests, DJ sessions, workshops for professionals, parallel screenings at Sousami Bar, refreshing mojitos and a fortified air conditioning system the Festival offers an oasis of cinematic excellence in the heart of the Cypriot summer.

The Festival will open on Thursday, 1st August 2013, at 20.30 with short welcoming speeches by the organizers, followed by a short presentation of the ΜΙΝSTREL project, by representatives of the Cyprus Music Information Centre. The overall objective of the project is the promotion of music diversity at European level.

 

The opening film:

‘The Crash Reel’, by twice Academy Award Nominee for Best Documentary Lucy Walker, will open the festival and promises big-screen adrenaline rush. Martha Eidsness Mitchell, associate producer of the film will be present at the screening. The awarded documentary follows the dramatic story of an unforgettable athlete, Kevin Pearce; one eye-popping sport, snowboarding; and one explosive issue, Traumatic Brain Injury. The screening is a collaboration with the Cyprus Ski Federation.

Following the screening, the Festival invites everyone to the opening party, which will take place in the outside area of Theatro Ena, featuring the music performance The Grounded Beat. Participating musicians: Charis Ioannou (Saxophone), Antreas Panteli (Keyboard), Gabriel Karapatakis (Bass) and Stelios Xydias (Percussions).

The festival is co-organised by Brave New Culture and Cyprus Broadcasting Corporation, while it is being funded and supported by the Ministry of Education and Culture of the Republic of Cyprus and Media Desk Cyprus. CYBC is the official communication sponsor.

Entrance to the Festival and DocsTalk, Cyprus is free of charge.

 

Subtitles

All the films will be screened in their original dialogues with Greek and English subtitles.
